Kickstart FC 4 (Sudheer Kotikela-17’ 22’ 49’ Uzochi Emmanuel Echebiri-47’) Vs South United FC 0
South United suffered their heaviest defeat of the season as Kickstart FC scored two goals in each half against them. The men in orange tried to mount attack after attack unsuccessfully as they tried to get back into the game.
South United FC began the game on the backfoot as they were pegged back by a persistent Kickstart attack. They defended cross after cross before Sudheer broke the deadlock in the 17th minute. A cross from deep found him in the box and he shimmied to beat his marker and put the ball in the back of the net. Just 5 minutes later, Sudheer turned up in the box again as a deflected shot looped over everyone else and he got to the ball before the goalkeeper could claim it.
South United started to see more of the ball towards the end of the half but they were unable to make the cut in the final third to really threaten Kickstart’s goal. Going in 2-0 at half-time, there was plenty of work for them to do, while Kickstart were looking good for their lead.
Early in the second half, Kickstart took the initiative and scored an early goal, this time Uzochi getting on the scoresheet. Only a couple of minutes later Sudheer completed his hattrick, leaving South united with a mountain to climb.
Alfredo Fernandes’ side pushed forward with zeal but their final pass was lacking in quality on a number of occasions. The likes of Jaison and Rungsing had a couple of half chances, Magesh had a few efforts from out of the box but no one could make a dent in Kickstart’s lead. A disappointing end to what could’ve been a different game if South United could find better quality in the final third.
