Former U-19 India international and Postal player Chethan Kumar has been given the captain’s armband for the 67th Santosh Trophy.
Karnataka is grouped in Cluster B and they’ll start their campaign in Kollam, Kerala, from Sunday, February 10, 2013.
Chethan had a stint with BDFA XI, when under his captaincy BDFA XI successfully defended the Don Bosco-Fr. McFerran Trophy at Chennai.
The team comprises of players from Super Division teams plus few district players from Mangalore, Mysore, and Shimoga.
The timing of Santosh Trophy suits the Bangalore-based players, they are in competitive mood as the BDFA Super Division League concluded recently.
Taking a cue from last year's fiasco, KSFA is playing safe this time. They are reaching the match venue much ahead of time. While distributing the team colors, KSFA president, A R Khaleel informed, “Team leaving four days early to acclimatize to the local atmosphere, playing conditions and to get a good account of the ground condition.”
