Amoolya Kamal, the midfielder is the lone player representation from Karnataka for the initial round of Asian qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic to be played at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh from March 18 thru 22. India is placed in Group B along with Uzbekistan and Bangladesh.
In the opening match on Friday, March 18, India takes on against Bangladesh and on Tuesday, March 22, they play against Uzbekistan. The winner from this group qualifies for the main round of Asian qualifiers.
The other Karnataka representative in the team comes in the form of assistant coach, Chitra Gangadharan, who apparently is Amoolya’s mother.
Certainly the game that is running well within the family!
