After having an impressive run in the qualifying round, MEG failed to repeat their feat. The lone representative from Bangalore lost both their group A matches and crashed out of the century-old tourney.
The odds were heavily stacked against the defense team when they met the winner of the last edition, Churchill Brothers on Wednesday, October 27. The first half saw a spirited MEG restoring parity after conceding early goals. However, in the second half, MEG was totally outsmarted by the brilliance of Odafe and company.
Already out of contention for a semi-final berth, MEG only had to play for pride against another defense team, Army Red on Friday, October 29. However, Army Red scored 3 goals and sent MEG packing.
