City footballer dies in road accident


Anil Rodrigues, a promising junior player, represented Karnataka in the recently concluded 47th Dr. B C Roy Trophy in Kolkata died in Bangalore on Thursday, August 26, 2010.

A senior member of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) football team, Anil hailed from Shimoga, he was studying in Al-Ameen College, and residing in DYSS’ sports hostel in Yelahanka. 


On last Sunday, Anil went out of his hostel room to get some medicine from a nearby chemist shop when he was hit by an unidentified car. He was lying unattended for over four hours.

Later, he was taken to Sita Bhateja Speciality Hospital, Richmond Circle, Bangalore. The injury was fatal and the doctors said that his chances of survival were slight. Anil was declared dead on yesterday.
