Heartbreak for Karnataka in the U-21 Nationals

Karnataka state lads went down to Punjab by 2 goals and crashed out of the Dutta Ray Trophy.

State team was grouped in Cluster I along with Punjab and Rajasthan. The top team from each 8 Cluster groups would make to the quarter-final stage. It was a must win game for Karnataka as both the team were on equal points. Punjab was slightly better placed with a single goal difference, 4-0 against 4-1.

With today’s 2-0 win, Punjab topped the group, and entered the quarter-final round. Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and Jharkhand too made to the quarter-finals from Cluster II, III, and IV respectively.

This is definitely an unsatisfactory result after Karnataka lifting the U-19 Nationals trophy last month.
